Job Title:          Technical Sales & Training Manager                Reports To: Regional Sales Manager/Leader
Location:         Shenzhen China
Department:          International                                        FLSA Status:   Exempt


SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Responsible for level 2 support, training and technical sales for all of Smith’s Power products in prescribed region. Job will involve training, support and technical assistance to regional sales team, distributors, partners and end users. May also be responsible for chargeable installation of equipment with minimum 50% travel required.  Primary focus is on PDI product (electrical distribution) line, but knowledge of Protection products also required.

SPECIFIC DUTIES, ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESINCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

Technical Sales Support
•        Travel across the region as required supporting sales, partner network & end user requirements – technical resourceto answer end customer questions.
•        Aids customers & end users with design requirements – may include evaluation of site requirements and or review of site requirements.
•        Conducts start-up installations as required.
•        Positively represents the Company during all contact with customers and conducts all actions consistent with Company values. Customer focus is primary objective.
•        Provides service to all customers when emergency service is needed.  Available to react to emergency situations in a timely basis.
Service
•        Performs Preventative Maintenance (PM) visits as scheduled
•        Troubleshoot electrical and electronic problems in Smith’s Power products.
•        Timely submission of customer chargeable jobs.
•        Efficient usage of travel – most beneficial to Smith’s Power as is practical to achieve customer requirements.
•        Support Service Function (USA HQ - based) & Regional sales team as necessary & requested.
•        Performs work as assigned and executes field service work orders through remote interface tool while at customer site.
•        Takes adequate measures to ensure that proper tools and supplies to perform all job functions are available.  Ensures that the tools are properly stored, secured and cared for.
Market Feedback& Training
•        Stays informed of all technology changes with the company and industry.
•        Liaison with GPM team to provide VOC and to highlight any market trends or requests to aid with market development and new product development.
•        Trains partners & end users on new products/services offered by Smiths Power and any refresh training as required.
•        Provides feedback to other departments on any critical observations while performing job in the field; e.g.  product quality issues to quality assurance manager, etc
•        Comply with and ensure department compliance with Company health, safety and environmental policies.
•        Other duties as required.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Training: Degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred) or  Polytechnic Institute or mix of Diploma and work experience.
Experience:        5 years of experience preferred.

Knowledge/Skills:      Electrical Systems knowledge.

Supervises:        N/A currently.

Shift:                  Flexibility to working schedules may be required due to changing business demands.


Travel Requirements:       
•        Extensive (50%+) travel is required, may require some international.
•        Passport will be required for most international travel


PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
•        Must be able to lift at least 25kg.  Some jobs may require lifting up to50kg.
•        The position will typically be performed on construction sites.  Must be able to comply with construction site safety and environmental conditions, which will vary from site to site.
•        Comply with company and jobsite safety requirements including wearing arc flash suiting where applicable
•        Must be able to simultaneously manage several objectives, and reassign priorities  
•        Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form,
•        Fluent English & Modern Standard Chinese required
•        Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines
•        Shenzhen location highly preferred


WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work environment typically will be at a customer or partner site in an industrial or business setting.
